A New Addition

There's a new addition to the Black Cloud Films family...

My beautiful and extremely strong wife delivered our daughter Jayden Thursday morning at 8:42am. Jayden weighed in at a light and quick 6lbs and 15oz. At 18 1/2 inches she's on her way to being...well who knows. LOL Mom and baby are doing well and Jayden's big sister Imani is prepping the protectiveness already.

I'll have pics up soon. Currently, rethinking her middle name. You know every good production has a great title. And she is my best production yet!

50 Word Review: "State of Play"

The talented cast is better than the source material. It’s been too long since we’ve seen a quick-witted newsman in film.  Although making Crowe a cop working with McAdams as the blogger, may have given the film more believability. While slower in spots than we want, it’s a well-crafted thriller.

10 more words:

Jason Bateman steals every scene he's in, which aren't enough!

Rating: 3 out of 4

Stars: Russell Crowe, Rachel McAdams, Ben Affleck, Robin Wright Penn, Helen Mirren

I'm So Tall Got Laser Beams Shooting Out My Face

I'm currently listening to the Chester French/Clinton Sparks mixtape "Jaques Jam" thanks to my good friend Mo for getting me familiar. It's a ready made product for the Spring..even though the Northeast is still in need of some warmer weather. The Harvard educated duo have plenty of music and lyrical skills alone to amuse (see the title of this post), but with the addition of an incredible array of guests (Jadakiss, Talib Kweli, Lady Gaga, Diddy, Pharrell, etc) the energy is kept at a cool fusion of The Beatles meets Outkast vibe. Hopefully these beats will help the Spring come faster.

A Bedtime Story for my Blu-Ray issue

THIS is the wave of my future. Blu-Ray, DVD AND digital Copy all in one package! Part of the reason I have yet to step up to Blu-Ray (outside of getting that super cool HD-DVD for Christmas two years ago...umm...yeah obsolete now) was that I have TONS of regular DVDs. I'm not planning to replace all of them so I'd have to deal with the Blu-Ray internal "upgrade". So what does one do when you want a movie and haven't stepped up yet? Get a cool combo pack! Everything is included. I'm swimming in the cross platformic love.

My first combo pack is the kid friendly and fun "Bedtime Stories" starring Adam Sandler and featuring MTV Award assailant Russell Brand (in a family film, wow!). The film is funny and overall a good way to keep the family from getting cabin fever on a rain drenched Saturday. Bedtime Stories hits the stores Tuesday.

Seems like there will be a happy ending to my Blu-Ray/HD DVD/DVD issues after all.

Portraits by Kehinde Wiley

I've been keeping track of this really good artist named Kehinde Wiley. He's a portrait artist that takes normal everyday people and puts them in these incredible paintings. I missed his exhibit in NY. I believe it was African men from shantytowns he had posed in regal poses. Well he has an exhibition of work he's done focusing on people from Brazil that will be showing in LA. If you're there check it out and tell me what you think.
